Why schools and temples should remain with the government in India

Lately, I have been seeing more arguments and discussions on privatizing schools and freeing temples from the government in the news.

The sole purpose of elections is to check those in power, and we as the citizens exercise this power using our right to vote. We raise our concerns via an elected body and they try to solve our issue(not necessarily) and if not satisfied by how they work then we change the representative the next election. We also voice our opinion sometimes as small as a complaint or a petition or through hashtags(social media) or sometimes as a protest. But we don't decide to abolish this entire system and use a private body to do that with a profit. I know my comparison is poles apart but that is what the issues that we are trying to address proposes as a solution.

If temples are not properly maintained, then yes we need to do something about it. The government needs to do it, we the people need to stress it but freeing it from the government is not really the solution to the problem. Let's see why its not the best solution:

1. Entering into a temple wasn't an easy one for most people in the land, people have been denied a place of worship. And the government has broken this barrier and helped its people in getting equal treatment. Freeing the temples from the government can bring back what we have been trying to abolish.
2. It's natural when something is privatized the organization owning it will have an upper hand in many decision-making processes, which might alienate a group/section of people. there’s no necessity to quote an example here as there are plenty of fish in the sea(try it by yourself).

Before I can state my opinion on why schools need to be backed by the government more, I am hugely disappointed by the Finance budget 2021 where the money allocated for education has been decreased compared to the previous year. During this pandemic, we need to spend more to make it reach all out there.

Have you ever noticed why there are no private bus operators in rural areas? but they are present in a big number in cities? The answer is simple, they look for profit. But the government is not here for businesses, it's here for our development. Every business runs with a goal to make a profit, and if education is privatized then it will be made into a business.

1. Government has build schools even in interiors or fewer habitat areas. This might not be the case otherwise. Why would someone step up a school where only a few people study? And what about the new fee structure?
2. Many argue that govt can provide a subsidy and institutions will take care of the quality. My question is why can't the government do both? Didn't the Delhi model prove that government schools match private school standards?

I rest my case with this, yes the government has got flaws and it needs to be checked and that is why we have elections. Privatizing everything will not be a solution.
